You will find a “leg-breaker” terrain taken to the extreme, with a very demanding accumulated elevation gain over the days. The constant ascents and descents, combined with the unevenness of the route, make it a tough trek, designed for nature lovers in its purest state. <\/p>\n\n

The Lighthouse Route does not have a religious or ancient origin, but rather arose from the passion of hikers. It originated in 2012 thanks to the initiative of the “Trasnos,” a group of local hikers from the Costa da Morte. <\/p>\n\n

This group began clearing forgotten paths, linking ancient fishermen’s trails, routes used by barnacle collectors, and coastal guard paths that watched over shipwrecks. Nowadays, thanks to the voluntary efforts of this group of hikers, O Cami\u00f1o dos Faros is positioned as one of the best coastal routes in the world. <\/p>\n\n

The Lighthouse Route traces the exact outline of the province of A Coru\u00f1a on its northwesternmost side. This itinerary is divided into 8 official stages. <\/p>\n\n

    As some stage endpoints are small villages with few beds, it is advisable to book in advance. If you cannot find a spot in the town, the most common solution is to use local taxis to go and sleep in a nearby town. <\/p>\n\n
